In this part, we will learn how to enable and use the firewall service in Cockpit by performing several steps below:

Enable The Firewall Services In Cockpit Server

First of all, open up the terminal application by pressing Ctrl + Alt + T on your keyboard. After that, type the command below into the terminal and press Enter to run it: 

  • sudo systemctl enable Firewall

Next, enter your sudo password when prompted, and then press Enter when done. After that, type the command below into the terminal and press Enter to run it: 

  • sudo systemctl start firewalld 

Finally, type the command below into the terminal and press Enter to display the current status of the firewall:

  • sudo systemctl status firewalld 

You should see a message saying active (running) if everything was successful during these steps. Now we should be able to access our firewall settings in GUI mode by opening up our web browser and accessing the URL below:

  • IP-ADDRESS:9090. 

Next, type your sudo password and press Enter to enter the Cockpit interface. Then go to Dashboard > Firewall Service and you can see your firewall service is enabled.
