Wireless Network Security 802.11 Doesn’t Have to Be Hard: Cloud Solution

What is Wireless Network Security 802.11? What does it mean? How can I protect my home Wi-Fi from hackers?

Wireless Network Security 802.11

Wireless network Security 802.11 is a security means to protect your home Wi-Fi from outside hackers. These are who can use your Wi-Fi for their usage and gain access to your valuable information. Unfortunately, Wireless Network Security 802.11 can be a complicated task.

This is even hard to understand, as there are many different solutions out there. However, you have to remember that it is not something that you have to do yourself. Since it is something that you can use a service provider for and they will take care of everything for you.

Security Tips for Your Wi-Fi Router

The network security plan can be integrated into the overall Business Continuity Plan of the organization.

WPA2/AES encryption

This will protect all wireless communication and data communications over your router so that nobody else can read or steal your data. This might seem redundant if you are using a modem/router combo but double encryption is always better than single encryption.

MAC Address Filtering

This will give you a way to identify the devices which have access to the Wi-Fi network you are using. Also, ensure that other devices cannot get access to it. Since MAC addresses are unique identifiers that are assigned by the manufacturer.

Hence, each device has its own unique MAC address which can be used in combination with MAC filtering. Since this is another additional security layer against unauthorized users trying to access your wi-fi network without permission.

SSID Broadcast Disable

This one is simple and easy but very effective when you disable SSID broadcasting on your Wi-Fi router. So, nobody else will be able to see the name of your home wi-fi network unless they know the name beforehand. This is because most people don’t know how to find out their names beforehand.

So, it’s an effective way of hiding your wi-fi network from others around you who could be trying to gain access to your network at any time.

Administrative Password Protection

A password-protected administrative panel gives you a higher level of control over how others can use your internet connection. This is through the router settings so that nobody else can change any settings or add new connections without your permission. In addition, this policy should include a statement on how IT Security will be coordinated with other related policies.

These are such as quality assurance, disaster recovery planning, risk management, business continuity planning, etc. In addition, it should also include a statement on what actions are required when a security incident occurs. So, the IT Security Policy should also be approved by senior management and it should be reviewed at least once every year.

It is necessary for organizations without a Business Continuity Plan to institute one immediately. So, it becomes part of their organizational culture. It is not necessary for organizations with a Business Continuity Plan to rewrite their plans.

Also, this is just to add security-related requirements. However, such organizations must review their Business Continuity Plans periodically. So, we can ensure that they are still valid and up-to-date with changes in organizational operations and technology profiles.
